I
am a Tutor, what technology do I need?
| |
We would recommend
that you have a broadband connection, and
a microphone and speakers. A Microphone/Headphone
headset may improve the quality of the
sound, but it is not essential. Similarly,
a writing tablet may be of value if you
are writing formulae. The PC/system requirements
are typical to most modern PCs, so should
not create an issue. In particular:
Host / Presenter
Minimum
- Pentium 4
- 1.4 GHz
- 256MB RAM
- 10/100 MBit Network card
- Video card
- Valid TCP/IP
address
- Windows 2000 w/SP3, Windows XP and
Windows 2003
- Microsoft® PowerPoint® 97
and above for presentations (optional)
Recommended
- Pentium 4
- 2 GHz
- 512MB RAM
- 10/100 MBit Network card
- USB or Firewire webcam (video conference)
- Sound card w/speakers & microphone
(audio conference) **
- Accelerated video card ***
- Valid TCP/IP address
- Windows 2000 w/SP3, XP and 2003
- Microsoft® PowerPoint® 97
and above for presentations (optional)
- Internet Explorer 5 and up.

How
do I get paid?
|
Tutors are free
to charge any price they choose
for their services. The price
will clearly be displayed to
students. Students will pay for
the tutorial when they make the
booking, so the tutor is guaranteed
payment.
Tutors will be paid for the tutorial within 24 hours of it
being completed. This delay is to protect the student in
the event of the tutorial not taking place e.g. tutor is
ill or unable to attend.
Payment will be made into the tutor’s PayPal account.
PayPal accounts are free to set up (www.paypal.com) and offer
a fast and convenient way for receiving funds.
|
How
do I pay?
|
Payment can be
made via credit card or debit
card, when the tutorial is being
booked. Payment has to be made
by a person 18 years or older.
|
What
are the costs involved?
|
Students
pay the price asked
by the tutors. Tutors
are free to charge
the price that they
choose for their
services.
Tutors are charged membership of $10 per year. There
is only a charge
(of 15%) when they
carry out tutorials.
This is deducted
from the price that
tutors charge students.
